How to Help Your Child Become a Better Writer
1. Build a climate of words at home (Have conversations with your child).
2. Let children see you write often.
3. Help children discover what it is they want to say through writing.
4. Provide a suitable place for your child to write.
5. Give your child gifts associated with writing (pens, a desk lamp, special paper, stationery)
6. Encourage (but do not demand) frequent writing.
7. Praise your child's efforts at writing.
8. Share letters from friends and relatives.
9. Encourage your child to write for information, free samples, travel brochures, etc.
10. Have your child help you with the grocery list, letters to teachers, sending cards, recording phone messages, and writing invitations.
